In recognition of the excellent mentoring and technology programs we offer, C4K has been offered to become a Best Buy Teen Tech Center non-profit partner. This is the first in Virginia!

This new partnership will help C4K “Build Up STEAM” with new Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math resources that will bridge the digital divide by giving youth access to tech education opportunities, supportive relationships that help build confidence, and build a foundation for school and career success. As a Best Buy Teen Tech Center, C4K will receive some annual operating support, tech upgrades, and volunteer hours from local Best Buy employees.
To launch the new partnership, Best Buy offered C4K seed money to refresh and reconfigure our Clubhouse – these changes will optimize collaborative learning opportunities for local youth. Local individuals and foundations have rallied around C4K to provide the rest of the funding needed to complete this project. We are so grateful to these incredibly generous donors!
Currently, C4K’s space is divided into separate rooms and spaces by program. Mentoring takes place in the front and Clubhouse activities take place in the back. The space is also broken up by offices, a workroom, and an enclosed sound booth.
The separate spaces make it more difficult for students to locate supplies. Our youth sometimes struggle to figure out what they like, what they want to try, and how they can best work with their mentors. The separation also means we need more volunteers and staff to assist and supervise our youth.
The renovations will remove obstacles, encourage relationship building, and optimize the exchange of ideas to create better learning experiences for local youth.
