Where are you from?  I was born in the Hampton Roads area but moved to Charlottesville when I was 9 months old.

What do you like most about Charlottesville? It has a lot to offer for the size of the town.

Do you prefer dogs or cats? Dogs! Especially my dog, Muggsy.

Why did you choose to work with youth? I have always been interested in working with youth. My first job was as a mother’s helper when I was in elementary school. I was later promoted to a babysitter and did that through college. During college, I volunteered in an after-school program (community-based–sound familiar)?!?! I tried to volunteer as many days as possible and would set my class schedule around my volunteer “job.”

What is the best part of working at C4K? The people!

  • Our staff members are talented and compassionate.
  • Our volunteers: I admire them for giving of their time and talents so freely. They believe in our youth and are here to support the youths’ goals.
  • Our youth Members: They ROCK! I love watching our members grow (and not just physically). It is amazing to see what our youth can accomplish when they have the support of a caring mentor. I especially enjoy reconnecting with former members when they are old enough to serve as volunteer mentors.

What advice would you give to your teenage self? Get out of your comfort zone and try new things.
