The Future Starts Here: Inside C4K’s Spring Pitch Night

Near the start of each cohort, we ask our youth members to share their intentions for their STEAM projects to be completed by the end of our fall or spring sessions. On February 28th, 2025, C4K held our biggest Pitch Night ever at the Irving Theatre in the CODE Building. We hold this event twice a year in a professional space that honors the work our members will do over the next several weeks on their projects.

Youth members, alongside their mentors, took turns presenting their ideas for their spring session STEAM projects. There was a trend in soccer-themed projects, perhaps due in part to growing interest in our new local soccer club, Charlottesville Blues FC. Roblox game design captured the imaginations of several members, as well. Projects using robotics, digital photography, costume design, video production, virtual reality, 3D fabrication, and podcast production revealed a wellspring of creativity and curiosity about using technology in fun, motivating ways.

Were our youth members nervous presenting in front of a theater full of peers and adults? Absolutely. Did they push through that discomfort? You know it! We’re so proud of them for showing up and committing to the work and discovery that lie ahead. We can’t wait to see their innovative work at our Project Showcase at the end of April!
